Branson, Day Six - Post first chiropractic adjustment and first barefoot trim

Here is a quick video of Branson the day after his first barefoot trim from my favorite podiatrist (Lisa Moore) and his first chiropractic adjustment. You'll notice he is still no where near tracking up, but he is engaging his hind right leg more fluidly and he no longer has such a severe head-bob associated with using his front left. He was also a spunky goofball after his adjustment, and ran all around the field, squealing and prancing like a yearling. He's definitely feeling better!

The chiropractor (Doctor Katy Miller from Ann Arbor) actually said that she suspects the same thing that I was beginning to suspect: that much of Branson's unevenness and lack of coordination may be more to do with the fact that he currently has such little muscle. She did find a section of his spine (his lumbars, naturally) that is severely rotated into equine scoliosis, but she was cautiously optimistic when we spoke about his future, and it heartened me to see someone else who thinks this may not be a waste of time. LOL!

You can also see that he doesn't seem to be rotating his right hip as he pushes with it. I've been giving him regular hamstring massages each morning (as well as some other hind-end massage that I remember from the classes I took 15 years ago LOL). I can't wait to attend our equine massage seminar in October at Meadowlark Equestrian Center (in Plymouth, Michigan). Anke Lendeckel is a great instructor and it'll be good to learn from her again. If you're interested in joining us for our seminar, contact me at MeadowlarkEquine@gmail.com for more details!
